Folks,
The advertising model for online media is a terrible one. Even the biggest sites are struggling to stay in business. At the local level, the advertising fliers stay alive because they sacrifice all credibility and become mouthpieces for the establishment that feeds them.
That is why we do not accept ads.
The only business model that works is subscription. My Healthcare Channel pioneered the genre of smart doctor interviews and has been selling subscriptions to Wall Street and the healthcare industry for almost a decade. Our client list makes the huge banks envious.
Meanwhile, BatteryPark.TV is becoming too much of a hassle to run as money-losing, time-gobbling, community service. It is time to start charging.
We will soon be charging $30 per year, or $2.50 a month. This is on par with what The Hudson River Park Mammas website charges, for example.
It is also a way to screen out the people we do not want viewing our content.
Thank you for your support and we look forward to your future business.
Interesting pivot. I hope it works out for you. The content certainly justifies the cost.
When you say you “don’t accept ads”, do you mean you “don’t accept ads from local entities that might result in a conflict of interest?” There are certainly “display ads” on your site.
Those are just placeholder ads from Googel. We are not paid or those.
And thanks
