More than just the bike path was effectively shut. I observed the following: the Esplanade path at both ends (southern end of South Cove and at Pier A) were constricted enough to deter many pedestrians from going thru. On the South Cove end, they were not allowing bikes at all and I observed event security turning back walkers. Some pedestrians protested and were reluctantly let thru to the Esplanade. Even our own AlliedBarton guards were assisting event security in this process! At the Pier A end, walkers, after navigating a dangerously slim strip along the Battery Place street curb, could only get access to the esplanade if they were able to figure out the “maze” that was created by ApothicWhite.
Note: If pedestrians were allowed their free rightful access to the Esplanade this massive ApothicWhite (aka Dîner en Blanc) event, which is supposed to be a dreamlike, idyllic diner party in a beautiful PUBLIC space, would have been a logistical nightmare of an event. The planners almost certainly knew this so they effectively barred the public.
