HBO aired this morning the 2007 movie called “Across the Universe”. It would not be possible to make this film in the current political environment, as I will explain.
It used Beatles songs for the plot. The John Lennon song “Revolution” was on. A couple of years ago, I specifically noted how this song was relevant to political events today. It was a window into the mind of what was going on back in the late 60’s and into the 70s.
John Lennon was a far-left activist when he wrote this song about the year 1968 (The year I was born). However, he clearly began to realize his movement had been hijacked by the communists, literally. I am talking about the actual Chinese communist party and Russia (Vietnam was a proxy war with China).
He wrote:
“But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, You ain’t going to make it with anyone anyhow
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is, brother, you have to wait
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out”
I see this same epiphany going on now with contemporary liberals. The entertainment industry is starting to wake up and realize this has gone too far.
They were all unified against the bad orange man back in 2016. Now, they are seeing the insanity of the transgender movement, the massive homeless and crime problems of cities, the violence against Asian women, inflation, and the corruption of Congress and the Executive Branch as outcomes they did not want. Luminaries of the liberals, such as Bill Maher, Sean Penn, Jim Carrey, and others in the music industry are all pushing back now.
It is the cycle of politics. The well-intentioned bleeding heart liberals are always hijacked by communism. (I love liberal ideologies. I like their music. I like their movies. They are just naïve.)
By the way, there is a reason HBO is playing this 2007 film. It is not by accident. These five or so years of Wokeness have destroyed content creation. That is hitting them in the bottom line. Netflix and Disney are imploding in share value. Nobody is buying all of these numerous different television streaming packages. People are cutting their cords. The elite CEOs are starting to feel the pinch. They are pushing back. Elon musk is probably the most vocal liberal who is now pushing back.
It has been obvious since 2012, Barack Obama’s second term, that the majority of Americans were upset about this. That is why President Trump was elected. Now, the far-left are even sick of it. The left is eating its own children.
2022 is the year of the Great Pushback to offset the Great Reset.
