In New York Harbor and the East River, 238 years ago, 12,000 Patriots died in British prison ships, mostly from small pox (per History Channel). Few people know this on this July 4th because there is only an obscure memorial on Brooklyn about it all.

The daytime activities of July 4th in New York should be as big as the fireworks, focusing on history.
