In Lower Manhattan where I lived, from about 2009 to 2016, I had a small garden plot by the West Side Highway. I was the only person to grow tall sunflowers. They reached more than 10-feet high, in honor of the rising Freedom Tower in the background.
I have not grown them in 10-years. This year, I decided to try.
It has been challenging due to my domesticated cottontail rabbit that eats plants. I managed to get one to grow and it blossomed today. It is almost 6-feet tall currently.
The Sunflower King rises again.
