- I do not think Ryan Day has the head coaching skills to lead a powerhouse like Ohio State. He is not built to handle the pressure, often looking overwhelmed or visibly stressed on the sidelines when things go sideways. Unless he manages to pull off a literal miracle and win a championship this year, he’s gone. Who do I think would be a good replacement if the job opens up? Two specific names immediately come to mind: Will Stein at Kentucky and Bob Chesney at UCLA. Both are proving they can drastically elevate programs and outperform expectations on rosters with significantly less natural talent than the blue-blood giants. Of the two, my favorite right now is Chesney at UCLA. What he has managed to do in his very first season in Westwood is nothing short of shocking.
