The monthly CB1 meeting tomorrow will discuss two issues vital to Battery Park City. You are encouraged to try to find the time and attend.
Public speaking begins at 6:00 PM.
The location will be: Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), 199 Chambers Street, Richard Harris Terrace, (Between West Side Highway and Greenwich Street)
The first topic will be an update on the ferry boat horn nuisance. It is expected that Representative Nadler will have some comments about his discussions with the Coast Guard.
The second discussion will be the vote on a resolution to allow Pier A to become not only the largest restaurant in the city, but also be able to dock party boats, and have a liquor license to operate until 4:00 AM.
The consequences of this will be immense to the sleepy quiet park community that it is now. Drunks will leave Pier A and take the easiest path, which will be the esplanade. Crime will skyrocket, just as it has on Stone Street.
The New York Liquor Authority is the official agency to approve liquor license. The CB1 resolution is non-binding and easily overturned if the community opposes the vote.
