April 14, 2015- The ever changing Tribeca Film Festival (TFF) has new management and a new home in Midtown. All of the theater venues for the films are outside of Tribeca this year, with the exception of the BMCC, which is barely in Tribeca. So, why is it called the Tribeca Film Festival?
The venues for the movies include the SoHo Apple store, the Battery Park Regal Cinema, other theaters in Chelsea and up on 23rd Street. The main outdoor events will be on the Battery Park esplanade.
It seems that the home to many Hollywood producers and actor, actual Tribeca, does not want the Tribeca Film Festival too badly.
Post your comments. Have you ever attended a TFF movie? Do you think that this event is good for the community, or is it benefiting from us more than we are from it?
By the way, only a handful of films at the TFF are ever later sold to studios for distribution. Sundance, Toronto, and Canne are the main “film festivals”.
