Update October 2, 2015- I ate here again, and it was still a good experience. I am cautiously taking them off of probation.

Update September 23, 2015- by Steven E. Greer

I walked into El Vez and walked out, fed up with certain things. I almost gave up hope for lunch when I decided to try out Chipotle again.

I was greeted by a very pleasant “builder” lady. She seemed much better than the ones from last time. I was then treated to a nice cashier lady.

BatteryPark.TV can now cautiously recommend this establishment, but let us know if you have any bad experiences.

I have now eaten at the new BPC Chipotle five times. The corporation has clearly lost control of operations and training. This establishment is not fit to be open and needs to close down until they provide the proper training to their staff.

On one occasion, I ordered a burrito, and it was so improperly rolled, being too loose, that it was more of a light salad surrounded by a tortilla. It fell apart when I bit into it.

On another occasion, I went with the tried and true crunchy tacos. Those were edible.

Tonight, I was at the Chipotle at 7:00 PM and I observed five-straight botched burrito rolls in front of me. The ladies working seemed to have had no training at all.

Imagine placing the ingredients on a tortilla then randomly wadding it all up. That is how bad it was. The manager came out and was not much better. He broke his tortilla. Then, rather than discard it all and start over, he piled the mess into a second tortilla and rolled a new one.

When this establishment opened, I spoke with Tom Spong, the Executive Director of  Safety, Security & Risk for Chipotle out in Denver. He said that he had observed problems in New Jersey staff and would pass along my concerns to the CEO. I have seen no improvement over the last two weeks.

BatteryPark.TV recommends against dining at this Chipotle for now. The burrito hut at El Vez is much better. However, if you want a real burrito, just sit down and get the $11 masterpiece inside El Vez. Ask for Chef LaForce to make it.

Meanwhile, Chipotle earnings are suffering. The stock (ticker CMG) is under pressure, down 11% this year, when the rest of the market is up. Bloomberg reported in April, “Investors are waking up a little bit to the fact that the rest of the year may not be so great for the stock,”. From the lack of long lines at the BPC store and my observations, this seems to be a corporate-wide problem.

i love having chipotle here and am happy to eat there. The few bumps are insignificant, IMO.

It is better than the dry cleaners, Picasso pizza, and the hot dog stand. True.
