NEW YORK, NY, August 29, 2020. – A rally for restaurant survival will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in Inwood, Northern Manhattan as increasing pressure builds to allow restaurants in New York City to open for indoor dining.
Restaurant owners, employees, and political leaders will be in attendance at the rally and will be advocating for the right for restaurants to fully reopen and for their employees to get back to work.
The rally is being held on the corner of Broadway and Dyckman Streets in Inwood, Northern Manhattan at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1. It is being sponsored by Aaron Foldenauer, a Democratic Candidate for Mayor and Josue Perez, a Candidate for City Council in Northern Manhattan, District 10.
“Our chefs, waiters, and waitresses do not want unemployment checks. They want to get back to work and resume the world class service that New York City is famous for,” said Aaron Foldenauer, Candidate for Mayor of New York City. “Each additional day that restaurants remain closed inflicts further permanent damage on the very establishments that make this City great.”
“Our local restaurants have suffered terribly during the last six months when they were forced to close,” said Josue Perez, a Candidate for City Council and co-sponsor of Tuesday’s rally. “I am an immigrant from the Dominican Republic and my parents came here to become business owners. The unjust closure of our restaurants adversely impacts minorities and immigrants the most.”
Aaron Foldenauer, who will be appearing at Tuesday’s rally and press conference, is now the first and only candidate for Mayor to call for the immediate opening of indoor dining in New York City.
“Now that we have flattened the infamous curve, our city’s famous restaurants deserve a chance to start serving customers indoors,” said Aaron Foldenauer. “If common-sense precautions are implemented, guests could enjoy our culinary wonders while we show the world that New York City is ready to open for business.”
