Essay: Democracy cannot function with an idiot electorate

I recently wrote an essay about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (the lady who went from being an unheard-of bartender to a congresswoman-elect) that essentially supported her. I made the point that her politics of socialism were just a ploy to get her elected. I claimed that she was actually a smart lady with a degree from Boston University who grew up in a wealthy suburb.

Boy, was that assumption wrong. As football coaches like to say, “When you assume, you make an “ass” out of “u” and “me””

Ocasio-Cortez has been foolishly granting interviews rather than hiding in a closet until November. During these poorly vetted interviews, she has been displaying her utter lack of knowledge of “geopolitics” or basic current events. Her poor public speaking skills are cringe-provoking. Her interview with Margaret Hoover was just the latest example.

How did an imbecile like Ocasio-Cortez defeat a well-established Democrat congressman? Were there no public debates that were viewed by more than 1% of the people who actually voted? Did the local political clubs that endorsed her stuff the ballots with fake votes? Are the people of Queens this stupid?

The answer to all of those questions is probably “Yes”, and this is not an outlier. People like this get elected all the time. In the recent City Council election, Chris Marte almost won, and he has no college education and can barely put together an English sentence.

Democracy cannot function with an idiot electorate. All of the horribly bad political experiments of the past will be repeated if the masses are controlled by programs designed to create a stupid society that can be easily ruled by dynasty families, such as the Cuomos, Clintons, and Bushes.

Because Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez attended Boston University, I assumed she had at least a modicum on intelligence and social skills. I was wrong. Private colleges these days are diploma mills interested only in taking in the hundreds of thousands in tuition so that their bureaucracies can thrive. Grade inflation is rampant. Anybody can graduate.

The K-12 public education system in this country is even worse. The pubic teacher’s union and bloated Department of Education have hijacked the curriculum long ago. Bad lazy teachers cannot be fired. Making matters worse, Spanish-speaking immigrant kids cannot learn and a bilingual education system does not work.

It was only 27-years ago that the Soviet Union collapsed proving that communism was a failed experiment. Other communist states in Cuba, China, etc. also failed (China is succeeding only after adopting “free-market” capitalism controlled by the state). Right now, Venezuela is a failed country with people starving because its experiment with socialism failed.

So, how have Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez succeeded on platforms that embrace socialism and communism? The electorate in the big cities cannot locate China and Venezuela on a map, much less explain the slightest thing about their histories.

How can this country prevent the demise of democracy caused by an uneducated population? It starts by cutting off the money to the special interests benefiting from the status quo.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that it is illegal to force people to join public unions. As a result, the largest teacher’s union slashed its budget and warned that it could lose 300,000 members. Going after the public unions is a good start.

Then, the criminal laws on the books against corruption can be used to go after the heads of the snake, such as Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio in New York, or many other examples across the country. But the cancer would grow back quickly unless new laws against campaign donations and money laundering of campaign funds are put in place (Everyone should read up on the Governor Cuomo “Buffalo Billions” scam to learn how it all works.)

Finally, the public education systems in big cities cannot function if the schools have to teach in multiple languages. Young kids can and want to learn English.

It is a sin to allow kids to graduate despite having no education above a grade school level. It will also be the downfall of the United States very soon.

The days of warning about this apocalypse are over. It is upon us. This is the dystopia predicted in Ray Bradbury‘s Fahrenheit 451 and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World (make your kids read them).
