September 4, 2015- BP.TV first reported on the chaos of hot dog vendors and trash at Vesey and West Street next to One World Trade Center. We also called them a security risk. None of the vendors have had a proper background check, and many have long arrest records.
Now, the police division that handles the WTC area wants to expand the vendor-free zone enough to eliminate this hot spot. DNAinfo reports, “Food vendors on the blocks surrounding the World Trade Center are posing an increased security risk, authorities said, and it’s time for them to move — but not too far.”
The new zone would push the vendors to north of Barclays Street and south of Cedar Street. Unfortunately, nothing seems to be planned to keep these vendors out of Battery Park.
