Is a real performing arts company coming to Battery Park?!

One of the hidden agendas of BatteryPark.TV has been to recruit performing arts to Downtown. Right now, all of the cool stuff, like Joe’s Pub, the Public Theater, City Winery, Shakespeare in the Park, etc are all way far north. The travel via taxi makes going to these venues a real hassle (plus, I am lazy and want everything to come to me).

I have had meeting after meeting with various performing arts companies trying to get them to set up in our neighborhood, and most them have been either under-budgeted or poorly managed. Meanwhile, the zillion-dollar performing arts center slated for the WTC aint going nowhere soon.

Therefore, with all of that being said, it is of great interest to learn that a real Shakespeare company will be arriving to the Battery Conservancy and Castle Clinton next Spring. Shakespeare Downtown is the name and it is managed by Ms. Billie Andersson.

Thanks Steven and keep the good work.

Now, how about the Battery Park Library offering some courses/community events for other age groups not just for kids and their families. I have noticed that other Manhattan Library branches do offer a more diverse offering.
