Depth Mode photo from the iPhone 7
November 25, 2016- by Steven E. Greer
I was forced to buy the new iPhone 7 Plus after my new 6 was stolen. While I still recommend not upgrading unless you have to, this 7 is superior to the 6.
The first thing I noticed was that the phone simply works better. My old home button on the 6 rarely recognized my fingerprint. The 7 instantly does. The entire touch screen on the 7 is more sensitive and accurate too.
The new dual camera allows for a clever synthetic large aperture look, with that blurry background that only large glass lenses can provide. However, you need to be in good light because the flash does not fire in this “depth” mode.
The phone comes with a minimum of 36-gigs of memory now. That is plenty unless you never transfer photos off of your phone.
The stereo speakers are useful when watching videos.
The waterproof body should prevent damage.
The battery seems to last longer, but I could be wrong. I used to charge my 6 daily. I can let the 7 go uncharged for days.
There are some powerful software apps that come installed. GarageBand can let you make studio-quality songs, for example.
Alas, the phone was launched prematurely, because the biggest features are not ready yet. The wireless ear buds must have issues because they are not on sale. The camera is also still in beta.
