The New York Harbor Sailing Foundation organizes two junior sailing programs from North Cove.  Full details are available on the Manhattan Sailing School website. The program for kids 8 to 13 is called “Operation Optimist” and the kids sail on Optimist class dinghies, which are docked in the calm waters southwest of the Statue of Liberty.  Transportation to and from North Cove is provided each day by Big Toot.  The cost for Operation Optimist is $590 per week plus a boat rental.

The program for kids 13 to 18 is called the “Teen Sailing Camp.”  Teens spend part of the week sailing on the J/24 sailboats.  They also spend time sailing on Sunfish dinghies.  The cost for the Teen Sailing Camp is $390 per week.
