February 11, 2016- The city is cracking down on slumlords and real estate crooks. The Post reports that five people were arrested for allegedly doing illegal activities that allowed the Lower East Side building to explode from a gas leak last year. The building owners and the “landlords” were among those in the perp walk, which was an intentional PR stunt to send a warning to other real estate crooks.

If you have any problems in your building that you believe are causing unsafe conditions, go to the HPD website and file a complaint.
