What I recall about last year and the Newtown shootings was how it came at the height of the Hurricane Sandy devastation. Two days prior, the biggest rock concert of its kind, 12/12/12, was staged with great success. People had some hope (even though they were to be permanently without homes, as we now know). People in affluent Tribeca were humbled as electronic refugees, coming to Battery Park to recharge their smartphones in the Winter Garden atrium.
Then….bam, bam, bam (more than 100 rounds from 30-round clips in a Bushmaster XM15-E2S assault rifle)….lots of toddlers were mutilated with large caliber bullets. As someone who has seen trauma, I can visualize the carnage and wounds.
