Law firms will be going broke again soon

Folks, keep your government law jobs. Private law firms are heading into a depression again. 

I remember after the 2008 collapse when all industries were in a crisis. Lawyers got hit worse. Well, I think we are going to see a repeat of that for several reasons, but it will be existentially worse this time. This is an extinction event.

First. The imminent stock market implosion will be 100 times worse than last time.

More importantly, AI has taken away a law firm’s competitive advantage. A big Law firm used to be able to out-litigate a smaller opponent. That is no longer the case.

I remember from my Greer v Mehiel Case a decade ago when the two different defendants hired the biggest law firms. They were aggressively filing motions (and I defeated them without AI or the knowledge I have now). They were contesting everything. The judge scolded them. 

Vexatious filing was their strategy. Their clients were guilty as could be. 

Now. AI lets a small individual litigator fire back with equal cannons.  

In my current Cuyahoga case against a hospital, that big defense firm has filed all sorts of vexatious briefs. I immediately turned it around on them by filing better briefs. I have the advantage over them because the facts are on my side and I am smarter and faster than they are. 

This weekend, I was forced to get up to speed on federal water acts. I drafted a brief. That’s the type of law normally a lawyer could spend their entire career doing because they have a niche. Now, anyone can get up to speed on any complex law.

FCA, RICO, copyright, etc. are no longer complex. A smart solo litigator can do those. 

Any advantage a lawyer used to have by knowing quirks of local courts or procedure better is out the window. Everyone is on a level playing field (or can be if they are not dumb). 

Law is going to boil down to political power, bias, and corruption. Look for judges to flagrantly violate basic court rules. The only way now to prevent fair litigation is to dismiss cases by violating rules.
