The September 3rd BPC CB1 meeting was supposed to feature the City DOT plans for altering and improving South End Avenue and West Thames crossings. However, the DOT architects did not show up, and the cancellation was last-minute. A source very familiar with the City DOT explained why this happened.
Because Bill de Blasio is running ahead in the mayoral race, which is a big surprise to most people, the City DOT veterans are laying low, avoiding all controversial decisions until the election is over. Christine Quinn was expected to be the next mayor and continue many of Mayor Bloomberg’s policies. With de Blasio looking to be the winner, the bureaucrats are hiding under their desks.
