I have not been a big charcuterie or cheese guy, so I have not yet tried out the Fromagerie at Le District. However, my excellently prepared macaroni cheese has been missing something, so I asked the chefs at Le District for help.
I told them that my mac and cheese, made with speculative Gristedes cheddar, was bland. I doubted whether it was even cheese at all. I wanted a sharper cheesier cheese.
They gave me a seven-year-old sharp cheddar, and let me taste others as well. I knew right away that it was what I wanted.
I am quite pleased with all of the sections of the Le District grocery store and specialty shops. So far, the meat counter and vegetable sections are excellent. I need to try the fish counter soon.
