September 22, 2015- One of the best restaurants in the world is Eleven Madison, run by chef Daniel Humm. Humm and his team used to be part of Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality until they quit. After leaving the nest of Danny, they achieved 3-Michelin-Star caliber.
Tom Coliccio made Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern great in the 90’s. Then, he too quit to do his own things, and excelled.
Now, chef Gabriel Kreuther, formerly of Danny Meyer’s restaurant called The Modern, has opened his own place by Bryant Park. It just got 3-stars in the New York Times.
BatteryPark.TV has been the only site to accurately inform the viewer that Union Square Hospitality is not what it used to be. Danny has cashed out, literally, selling half the company and also taking Shake Shack public. He has left the operations in the hands of Sabato Sagaria and the chefs are jumping ship.
Ignore the hype over any Danny Meyer place. He has managed to get the financially struggling newspapers to write good things despite being undeserving.
