With the disgraced Sheldon Silver having been so instrumental in almost all levels of local politics, including the selection of the Manhattan Community Board 1, it seemed likely that changes would come to CB1 after Mr. Silver was indicted. Sure enough, BatteryPark.TV is hearing that two members of the Battery Park City subcommittee of CB1 are leaving.
We can confirm one of the names: George Calderaro. His departure has nothing to do with Sheldon Silver scandals, however. Rather, he recently got married and decided to purchase an apartment closer to his job at Columbia University. He will be leaving CB1 in April.
Lawyer Jeff Galloway is another CB1 member whose future is unknown. He has not been present for most of the recent meetings. Mr. Galloway has worked closely with Mr. Silver’s office in the past, on topics such as the attempt to have a Memorandum of Understanding signed that would have restricted Asphalt Green from competing with Manhattan Youth. Mr. Galloway did not reply to our email.
Stay tuned for more developments when we know them.
How many more chips will fall?
