This was not me. I swear. Police report that the food cart vendor in BPC, on Liberty Street by West Street, was “robbed”, but also threatened. The vendor claims that several men, at knife point, warned him, “If you do not move from here, I will kill you.”
The whole thing sounds bogus to me. Since when do common criminals have a civic pride and want to see street vendors removed? Since when do multiple robbers act as one in such a small crime?
This alleged crime takes place as the Port Authority and NYPD are planning to expand the no-vendor zone around the WTC as a security measure. Also, local residents have been asking the city and police to help remove such vendors.
