August 24, 2016- John Timoney was the NYPD Deputy Commissioner and recently lost a battle with lung caner. His funeral at St. Patrick’s Cathedral was well attended, per this WSJ article.
Of note, his son, Brendan Timoney, was the First Precinct Commanding Officer for a few years.
