August 10, 2013- This quick video was taken at 5:00 PM on a slow vacation season Saturday, at West Thames Street and South End Avenue. This is the same location the the City DOT has claimed in the past, based on unseen “warrant studies”, does not justify even a stop sign, much less a traffic signal.

In this short 2:52 long video, 22, pedestrians, many of whom where children or elderly, crossed the intersections. That equates to 700 people per hour.

The new Citi Bike rack is undoubtedly one reason for this increased traffic. Soon, two pre-K schools are opening at the same intersection.

The recent CB1 annual report is requesting a traffic light. Councilwoman Marget Chin is also requesting added measures for this intersection.
