Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly is a very relevant character. To pretend otherwise is a mistake that many liberals often make. However, his popularity is what has caused him to help liberal causes more than conservative causes, despite his Fox News being an organ of the conservative movement.
Because Mr. O’Reilly is such a blowharding, arrogant, polarizing character, many people despise him just for his personality alone. They don’t like to see a man with a broken nose and bad hair plugs preen and smirk as if he were a charismatic Hollywood leading man. He invites people to knock him down a peg.
Also, anyone with a basic level of intelligence can see through his TV gimmicks and spot the BS in his logic. His fake debates with paid Fox contributors are kindergarten-level TV. Sesame Street often has more intelligent discussions of the news. He used to yell a lot too, until he realized that he looked like a fool.
It is this animosity that his personality generates which causes Bill O’Reilly to be one of the best motivational speakers for the liberal groups. Over the years, many liberal figures have risen to become national leaders by opposing Bill O’Reilly.
The Saturday Night Live clown Al Franken became a United States Senator after he wrote a book called “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them”, which accused Bill of making numerous lies on his show. Mr. O’Reilly foolishly responded by nightly pummeling Mr. Franken, giving him precious PR, making him a liberal star. He won election.
Another comedian, Stephen Colbert, made a career out of mocking Bill O’Reilly on his show “The Colbert Report”. He played a character that was much like the real Bill O’Reilly. His show became a cult hit with liberals, and when the leading liberal on TV, David Letterman, announced that he was retiring, liberal CBS bosses tapped Mr. Colbert to replace him. In September of 2015, one of the most powerful liberal voices on TV will be Mr. Colbert, all made possible by Bill O’Reilly.
Other TV shows that have benefited by attacking Fox and Bill O’Reilly include “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, and HBO’s “Real Time wit Bill Maher”.
Liberal political action committees have also thrived as a result of Bill O’Reilly PR. MoveOn.org, funded by billionaire George Soros, is Bill’s favorite piñata. Well, his attacks have only led to greater success for the PAC, and George Soros has only gotten richer.
Of course, Mr. O’Reilly has defeated a few small-time buffoons, such as Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, or small rural community judges. But they have all been low hanging fruit.
Meanwhile, Bill O’Reilly’s conservative friends have not seemed to fair as well as his liberal opponents. The Republicans were trounced in the 2008, 2010, and 2012 elections. Only in 2014, when President Obama committed unforced errors, did the GOP regain any momentum. However, the 2014 wins had nothing to with Fox News. The same misguided “strategists”, such as Karl Rove, who caused the GOP to pit Mitt Romney against Barack Obama in 2010, are still pandering to special interests and refusing to adopt agendas that would get the GOP more votes (e.g. such as opposing Wall Street crony capitalism, or supporting the blacks protesting criminal injustices who are fighting for many of the same Libertarian ideals that the Tea Party shares.).
Bill O’Reilly is to the liberal movement as Microsoft is to Apple. Only because Microsoft is so bad, and generates such animosity, does Apple have the religious following that it has. Likewise, it is Bill O’Reilly’s nightly propaganda that outrages liberals and motivates their soldiers. If Fox News is some secret Machiavellian plot to help liberals, then it is succeeding.
