I spent about an hour on my little phone creating hyper-realistic deep-fake videos using the free Grok app. There is much better software already that can create movies like the 2001 Lord of the Rings or Avatar for no money at all.
First, this is a watershed moment for Hollywood. That entire industry of human actors and directors is over. The new genre will allow the viewers to dictate the ending of the movie. People won’t have to sit there and watch a static movie. Just as no one watches silent movies nowadays, no one will watch non-interactive content.
Secondly, there needs to be a whole new wave of laws against defamation, copyright protection, etc. Deep-fake technology has changed everything.
I think the solution is to mandate that deep-fake videos have watermark labels on them. Also, someone’s likeness should not be allowed to be used in a deep-fake without permission.
These needed new laws could be morphed into existing defamation and copyright laws. We then need federal acts to stop AI in general.
