WTC Tower 1 officially the tallest in the country

Sheldon Silver’s stop sign not helping PS 276

The all-powerful State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s solution to the extremely unsafe road in front of PS 276 was to have the DOT place a stop sign. Local resident and mother of a student at the school, Tammy Meltzer, and the rest of the Silver cronies on the CB1, cheered the move stating that a stop sign was actually preferred over a full traffic light. P.S. 276 Crossing Guard Hit by Car at ‘Unsafe’ Intersection, Police Say
February 3, 2014- DNAinfo reports, “A school crossing guard was struck by a passing cab as she stood on duty outside of Battery Park City’s P.S./I.S. 276 at an intersection that parents and police say is unsafe. “I’m very concerned for the children’s safety,” 1st Precinct Commanding Officer Capt. Sheldon Silver unable to get a traffic light for PS 276
February 14, 2014- A blast email from Speaker Sheldon Silver’s office proudly states that his office was able to have the City DOT install a stop sign in front of PS 276, in the wake of the crossing guard being hit by a vehicle there recently. However, a full traffic light is needed, and the BPCA can afford it.
When Goldman Sachs wanted a traffic light on North End and Murray in 2012, the BPCA promptly paid for one. For unknown reasons, children in danger do not command the same urgency. Continue reading
