New York U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara was speaking before the Kentucky State Legislature because that state has some of the strictest ethics laws, which Mr. Bharara would like to see implemented in New York. Most of the Kentucky officials were unfamiliar with the scandals in New York and were aghast when they heard tails of them.

According to the WSJ, Mr. Bharara said, “People knew, and did nothing,”, pointing the blame at the thousands of people surrounding Sheldon Silver and Dean Skelos who knew what was going on but stayed silent. Indeed, many of those people are, to this day, actually supporting Silver after his conviction (see stories below).

Perhaps Mr. Bharara needs to continue is prosecutorial efforts and go after the enablers of Silver. Manhattan Community Board 1 would be a good place to start.
