Loggerhead shrike are small birds, but they have raptor DNA. They are like tiny falcons and behave differently from song birds. They will fight off much larger grackle and mockingbirds. They also seem intelligent. they will not fly away when I get near them. This one is one of the two new birds that hatched this year.
