Officials are now reporting that the captain of the Korean ferry boat that sank, killing hundreds, had no captain at the helm. A lower ranking employee was steering when the vessel went off course and struck ground.

BatteryPark.TV has previously reported how the NY Waterway and other ferry boat services are unnecessarily unsafe because the operators hire only one person the manage the helm, meaning that one distraction for a text message, or heart attack, would turn the boats into unmanned floating torpedoes. We have pointed out how the ferries have crashed many times over the last few years.
