The Greatest Showman is a rare musical that is not cringe-provoking to watch. The plot is interesting and the sets, cinematography, and wardrobe are appealing.

Unlike the atrocious singing of bad songs in La La Land and Les Misérables, the music in Showman, by writers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, is pretty good. It reminds me of Gotye. The song “This Is Me” was nominated for an Oscar and won the Golden Globes.

Hugh Jackman, playing P.T. Barnam, has a long resume of Broadway and musicals, and delivers a good voice. Michelle Williams who plays Barnum’s wife does a good job too.

While this is definitely a movie for the kids, it will not make the parents want to leave the theater. It is worth watching.
