Like most men, I would rather do accounting or watch The View than shop for clothes in Manhattan. Not only is it time consuming and a $40 cab fare to schlep to Midtown or SoHo, but the selections are hard to find. Also, the quality of some franchises, such as The Gap and Banana republic, or now extremely poor (I bought a belt at Banana Republic only to learn that it was plastic). As a result, I tend to wear a few items of casual clothing and stick with them.
But then I discovered Zappos.
As I walked by the doorman desk in my building, more and more incoming boxes were the white Zappos ones, so I inquired. Zappos sells shoes and casual clothes online, but they provide a superior customer service as a distinguishing feature. You can pretty much return anything at any time for any reason.
Shoes don’t fit? No problem. Send them back in the same box and you will be credited before they even get the shipment.
The delivery is stunningly fast as well. I ordered three items on Saturday, and they have arrived today on a Monday. How this is physically possible, I do not know.
