After several horrible Uber drivers that I have experienced recently, I decided to try Gett. They have an ad on the South End Avenue bus stop that claims they drive you anywhere in Manhattan for $10.
The app works well and cars arrive just as fast as Uber. They are not the best of drivers, of course.
I went to Midtown for $9. the same trip costs $25 on Uber. Gett also does not surge price as Uber does.
