December 15, 2013- The William Wallace barge has been converted into a really neat thing for the kids, lasting until December 24th. After missing last year due to Hurricane Sandy, North Cove Marina’s Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh has restarted the tradition of converting their floating bar boat into a holiday toy train exhibit.
Fortenbaugh wrote, “I got the idea from visiting Baltimore where Holiday Train Gardens are created by many volunteer fire departments. It takes about two full weekends, plus some weekdays, to set up.
The work is done by many volunteer members of Manhattan Sailing Club. To augment their work, some of the staff from North Cove as well as the sailing club also pitch in. It’s a good way to get everyone in the holiday spirit.”
