Data centers are a controversial issue across the country due to concerns that they take over valuable farmland, increase utility bills, and generate constant noise. The epicenter of this plague is directly at the heart of Ohio in New Albany. Les Wexner and Jeffrey Epstein started the model for land grabbing from farmers to build data centers many decades ago.

The New Albany technology hub is built on a private land monopoly that began in the mid-1980s. According to historical features from Columbus Monthly, billionaire Les Wexner and developer Jack Kessler used shell companies to quietly buy up 85% of the rural village, which had a population of 409 people.

Jeffrey Epstein was deeply involved in the early financial planning. The Franklin County Auditor records track his 1992 acquisition of a 30-acre local estate parcel for $3.5 million. Wexner gave him sweeping power of attorney in 1991, and corporate records listed Epstein as a co-president of the development firm during the 1990s. Wexner’s representatives state Epstein’s role was strictly financial and that they cut all ties in 2007.

The land bank assembled during that era laid the foundation for the current tech park. Since 2010, development firm affiliates have reaped over $1.13 billion selling this land to tech companies. They bought farm plots at a median price of $85,000 per acre and sold them to tech firms at a median price of $300,000 per acre.

Meta, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Intel now control 45% of the land inside the city limits. State officials cleared the way for these projects by allocating massive public subsidies.

Why are highly profitable tech companies, each worth trillions of dollars, getting tax subsidies from the state of Ohio? This is the same governor, Mike DeWine, who intentionally detonated derailed train cars in East Palestine, causing the worst chemical explosion in the history of the country.

Intel’s “Ohio One” semiconductor project has received $960 million in direct state cash outlays from a $1.125 billion infrastructure package. Despite this funding, a late 2025 audit by the Ohio Department of Development showed only 162 direct Intel employees on-site. Intel originally promised to create 3,000 permanent jobs by 2028.

The slow hiring timeline has caused intense local scrutiny, which is worsened by insider lobbying. Joint Legislative Ethics Committee filings showed that JobsOhio board chairman Josh Rubin actively lobbied the governor’s office for Intel into 2026.

Because JobsOhio was set up as a private entity, its board members are legally exempt from the state’s public ethics laws. The director of the Ohio Ethics Commission noted to the Ohio Capital Journal that this lobbying directly contradicted the ethics pledge Rubin took before taking office.

(Josh Rubin has spent decades as a key political advisor to Mike DeWine, serving as his legislative aide on Capitol Hill and later managing DeWine’s successful 2000 U.S. Senate re-election campaign. After orchestrating DeWine’s Senate victory, Rubin transitioned into the private sector by founding his own government relations firm, The CJR Group, Inc., where he established himself as a prominent corporate lobbyist representing clients like Intel. Despite moving to the private sector, his deep political ties to DeWine remained intact, culminating in Governor DeWine appointing him as the Board Chairman of JobsOhio in September 2023.)

The New Albany city government has benefited financially from the boom, nearly doubling its annual income tax revenue from $39.2 million in 2019 to $70.6 million in 2024, as outlined in the City of New Albany annual financial reports. However, the surrounding school districts and local residents are facing the financial consequences.

(This author lived in New Albany from 2016 to 2019. As a graduate of The Ohio State University, Les Wexner’s name is on his diploma.)

Local school districts lose significant revenue from property tax exemptions granted to the tech companies. The Licking Heights Local School District forgave $26.6 million in property tax revenue in a single year due to Meta’s corporate tax breaks, receiving only $2.5 million back in compensation payments, according to the official financial audit published by the Ohio Auditor of State.

Local New Albany residents, who are directly subsidizing the massive electrical infrastructure required by these server complexes, are experiencing a dramatic surge in their monthly power bills. According to regional grid data from the PJM Interconnection market monitor and AEP Ohio‘s regulatory dockets, the base residential charge per 1,000 kWh spiked from $3.20 in 2024 to $26.59 by 2026. The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel confirms these approved rate hikes tack an immediate $7.93 monthly increase onto standard home bills. Public Utilities Commission of Ohio staff explicitly warned that AEP’s formulas allowed tech giants to avoid paying their fair share for the grid upgrades.

To bypass this heavily strained consumer transmission grid, Meta is spending $1.6 billion to build its own behind-the-meter natural gas power plants directly on-site, as documented in Ohio Power Siting Board cases 25-0185 and 25-0188 for the Socrates South plant. The noise and pollution from those carbon-footprint generators will be immense. New Albany is not an industrial city. It is supposed to be a quaint horse farm village with million-dollar McMansions.

These data centers consume twice the electricity of the rest of the entire city of New Albany. AEP Ohio has locked in 17,861 megawatts of data center power demand through 2035, which is double the peak usage of its entire existing residential customer base.

Les Wexner is now 88. Following intense scrutiny over unredacted FBI files released under U.S. Department of Justice Document EFTA00175080, he was removed from the board of the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Board. While his name remains on the hospital for now, the university has faced hundreds of formal requests to completely strip it from the buildings.

With Jeffrey Epstein dead and Wexner’s long-standing control over the state unraveling, individual power brokers are being pushed out of the picture. They were just used to build this layout and are now being discarded. In their place, technocrat conglomerates like Meta and Google are taking complete ownership of the local landscape.

New Albany was the experimental pilot program for this land theft by shadow powers. Because no one even knew what a data center was until recently, and because Wexner completely captured the governor’s office and the state legislature, they got away with murder. Now that Wexner is chewed up and no longer of any use, the entire false-facade town of New Albany is being consumed.

The entry point for the Epstein land-stealing virus was a blackmailed Les Wexner. He was Patient Zero in Ohio back in the 1980’s. The virus self-replicated and took over 45% of New Albany land so far. Jeffrey Epstein was replaced by monolithic companies like Meta, Alphabet, and Intel. The new brain is Larry Fink. The new host of the virus is New Albany itself, not just one man. Soon, under the protection of Vivek Ramaswamy or Amy Acton as governor, and a compromised Trump as POTUS, all of Ohio will be infected by the virus as it creates data centers in corn fields.

This is the exact corporate template they are now rolling out in Utah and middle-of-nowhere Mississippi. If you want to see a window into the future of how all of this looks at the end stages, you just have to visit New Albany, where Jeffrey Epstein helped build the foundation for a technocracy that has been envisioned for decades by global elites.

Note: Vivek Ramaswamy was endorsed by Elon Musk and Trump to become the next Governor of Ohio despite Vivek being greatly disliked for his pro-data-center platform. Les Wexner is the most powerful man in Ohio. The Ohio political machine runs on data centers, one could say.
