WTC Tower 4 9-28-2013November 13, 2013- The press is reporting with fanfare that the Silvertein Properties 4 WTC building has officially opened. The problem is, as anyone attending the recent CB1 meeting saw firsthand, that the inside of the building is still a year away from completion. Once completed, the building will be 40% unoccupied, and the only big tenant is the Port Authority.

Bloomberg reports, “Lieber’s firm, a unit of developer Silverstein Properties Inc., has to fill a million square feet of offices, a space almost the size of the Chrysler Building. The only tenants at the 2.3 million-square-foot (214,000-square-meter) 4 World Trade tower are two government agencies that committed to the project in 2006 to help jump-start rebuilding at Ground Zero. The first tower’s debut and the completion in January of 1 World Trade Center will add 2.4 million square feet of unleased space, testing a downtown market that’s already contending with more than 6 million square feet of offices left behind by shrinking financial companies.”

Not to be Debby Downer, the lobby is stunning and the opening of 4 WTC is a symbolic step for those who witnessed 9/11/2001 in person. However, BatteryPark.TV is critical of the overall ground zero construction because it became the epicenter for corruption, and all that is wrong with America, rather than a focus of putting aside greed for the good of the country.
