Local BPC resident Matt Fenton, employed by the local advertising flier The Broadsheet reported, reported that the West Thames pedestrian bridge was moving forward, but the story was full of inaccuracies. The Broadsheet reported that the SHoP architectural firm would be the designer. That is incorrect. A new RFP will be submitted and the best bid will win the contract. SHoP might very well be the eventual designer.
The completion date of 2015 is two years delayed, which was not reported in The Broadsheet. The City has agreed to release the BPCA funds, but seems to be delaying the hit to city revenue until the economy recovers.
The most important change to plans, however, is that the BPCA will not be the government agency leading the construction. The city will be the agency in charge, according to Anthony Notaro at the CB1 meeting on December 19. Matt Fenton was not present for the CB1 meeting.
