New York Times video showing how easy it is to steal a bike in Manhattan
I would tend to agree with the video. The trick is to make your bicycle unattactive enough that it is not worth the time stealing. I’ve had three bikes stolen, two on Elizabeth St. and one on Stanton Street. The worse the neighborhood, the more likely your bicycle will be targeted. If you leave it in the same place always, you may be targeted. I am lucky, my bicycle has not been bothered for almost three years on Rector Pl. I hope it doesn’t change.
