July 2, 2015- DNAinfo reports that illegal ticket vendors who sell tickets to the Statue of Liberty, etc, got into a fight. One man slashed the face of another.

The article states, “Emergency workers responded to the scene about 1 p.m. and transported one person in serious but stable condition to New York Presbyterian Hospital, fire and police officials said.

Multiple street merchants and people who work near the intersection of Pearl and Whitehall streets saw a group of people chasing another group from State Street south, then east along Pearl Street, then back again.

Witnesses and police said the people in the group were rival companies of ticket sellers who solicit tourists in the high-traffic area.

At some point during the chase, a man was slashed in the head, witnesses and police said.”

This same area of condensed vendors preying upon tourists exiting the subway has been in the news often this year. They are very aggressive and sell bogus tickets to free events, such as the Staten Island Ferry.
