May 8, 2014- A source close to the BPCA told BP.TV that construction of the outdoor “plaza” adjacent to Pier-A is behind schedule, and causing the planned opening of the city’s largest nightclub inside Pier-A to be delayed. The plaza is a separate $6 Million project funded by the BPCA, in addition to the $35 Million (and counting) Pier-A shell renovation.
The status of the Poulakakos restaurant group liquor application for Pier-A is also in limbo. Opposition to the 22-hour-a-day (7:00 AM to 4:00 AM), live outdoor music, cabaret license to seal 1,175 people (the largest in the city) was made during the 500-foot hearing on April 24th. The next step will be the determination by the SLA of whether a full public hearing on the matter will be granted.
