I had ample time today and decided to try to take the subway to JFK rather then get stuck in Brooklyn and pay $76 for an Uber. It worked out well.

All of this time, I could have been taking the A-line subway out to Rockaway and hopping on the Air Train monorail straight to JFK terminals. I am an idiot.

You simply do the following:

A) Got to Brookfield Place and take the escalators down to the Oculus.

B) Get on an express A-line.

C) After about 45-minutes, pay attention to the Rockaway stop. Get off and there is a terminal above the tracks for the Air Train. It is an additional $5. It takes you to each of the JFK terminals.

The new escalators from Brookfield make this so ideal. In the past, one would have to haul luggage to the outdoor subway entrances. Now, you never need to go outside in the cold or rain.

When I am traveling alone (my wife would never stand for it), coming back to BPC from JFK, I take the Air Train to Jamaica, and then the LIRR, and then the 1 train to Rector. Although it’s three legs, I think it might be a little faster than the A Train.
