Gateway windows 2February 20, 2014- BatteryPark.TV recently posted an essay laying out the reasons why condemning and demolishing Gateway Plaza made sense. Today, The Post reports, “Mayor de Blasio says he wants more high-rise buildings in the city, in hopes they will help him reach his goal of building 200,000 more affordable homes. “I think it’s necessary to do what I’m here to do,” de Blasio said Wednesday in a closed-door meeting with members of the Real Estate Board of New York. While acknowledging past complaints about neighborhood density with high-rises, he said that “when my administration blesses a project, including a project with a lot of height and density, it’s because we believe we got a good deal for the people.””.
