The PBS show Cook’s Country does nice reviews of products. The best chef knife that keeps winning, year after year, is the Victorinox Swiss Army 8″ Chef’s Knife, for only $25.
The best 12-inch fry pan is made by Tramontina; their Prima Triplybase, for only $50.
I purchased both from Amazon.
