Another bicycle gang violently assaults a random pedestrian
Update September 23, 2013- A gang of young males on bicycles, matching the description and using the similar methods of the September 11th case, below, violently attacked a Columbia professor. They seem to have chosen the victim for no apparent reason other than to commit an act of gang violence. (more…)

Exclusive: BPCA hired employment lawyer to investigate complaints by employees
August 21, 2013- BatteryPark.TV exclusively reported on August 12th that an investigation was underway at the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) stemming from employee complaints about the President, Demetri Boutris, and other executives, being abusive to staff and making wrongful firings. Shortly thereafter, on Friday, August 16th, President Demitri Boutris abruptly resigned.
On Tuesday, August 20th, the BPCA board convened to discuss bond and budget matters, but no mention was made of the investigation or resignation of the president. When a New York Times reporter asked Chairman and CEO Dennis Mehiel about the issue, Mr. Mehiel flat out denied that any investigations was underway, or that any investigation caused Mr. Boutris to resign.

Huge news for Tribeca: Citigroup to stay at Greenwich Street tower
October 24, 2013- The WSJ is reporting that Citigroup will decide t renew the lease at the Greenwich Street headquarters rather than move to Midtown as Merrill Lynch did. If Citi had left, Tribeca restaurants and and the apartment market would have tanked. (more…)

First Precinct clarifies sensational BS reporting on child abductor
Update October 24, 2013- The monthly meeting of the First Precinct Community Affairs took place tonight. Commander Timoney explained that the reports in the Broadsheet (BS) of a child predator caught on the ballfields were misleading. He described the man arrested as one of “special needs with no prior record at all” who wanted to play with the children. Captain Timoney said that the alleged perpetrator stated, “I have more balls back at my house.”. He was charged with endangering a child.
Recall, this story was originally reported as an exclusive in the BS by Matt Fenton. Mr. Fenton then published a partial retraction apologizing for originally reporting that some parents had refused to file charges, which was not the case.
October 4, 2013- The local advertising flier called the Broadsheet (BS) erroneously reported on a serious criminal matter of an alleged child talker who was arrested near the ballfields after trying to lure children away. Continue reading
Man stabbed on doorstep of Asphalt Green in high-rent district
October 23, 2013- DNAinfo is reporting that a 50-year old homeless man stabbed a man at 212 North End Avenue, which is the front entrance to Asphalt Green and a high-rent apartment building. However, no one at Asphalt Green was even aware that the crime took place. The article states, (more…)

After a long-time CB3 members was ousted for threatening a woman at a meeting, the CB3 decided to “suspend” the block party that the woman represented, the LES Dwellers. Multiple sinkholes open up in Battery Park City

Progress on ferry boat horn nuisance

BPCA successfully raises more than $800 Million in bond market
Update October 22, 2013- The bonds went to market and the cash will be in the BPCA bank account this week. Of note, the proposed F2014 budget has only $48.5 Million in capital expenditures planned, despite almost $100 Million of the latest bond offering supposedly going toward BPCA infrastructure. BS article gives CB1 credit for safety changes on streets

The local advertising flier, The Broadsheet (BS), posted an article on October 10th about the street changes coming to South End and West Thames. The author was Matt Fenton and the article included lengthy quotes from CB1 co-chair Anthony Notaro, as if Mr. Fenton had attended the CB1 meeting when the DOT reported the final plans on October 1st. However, Mr. Fenton was not present at the meeting.
Where did the BS get the quotes from Mr. Notaro? Why is the BS reporting on the DOT plans more than a week after they were presented? Continue reading

Howard Hughes company breaks ground on new Pier 17
