Tryouts for the Asphalt Green competitive soccer leagues
March 24, 2013 By Steven E. Greer
The Asphalt Green facility will soon announce an opening date, according to sources at Asphalt Green. The physical repairs are proceeding, and the gym floor is days away from completion. Once the “keys are handed over” from the BPCA control to the Asphalt Green, the staff will be hired and trained. This process will take “Six to eight weeks”.
The summer camp season should be possible. Also, Asphalt Green will provide a variety of soccer programs. Continue reading

Bill Thompson was hired by municipal bond firm he selected as City Comptroller
May 6, 2013- Former Battery Park City Authority Chairman, and former City Comptroller, Bill Thompson, (now running for Mayor) was handsomely rewarded by a minority-owned municipal bond underwriting firm that he selected while comptroller. Trinity Church develops building into 32-story tower
July 30, 2013- If you are confused about the news of Trinity Church being converted into a high-rose office building, it is the real estate the church owns across the street, at 74 and 68 Trinity Place. The existing 25-story building will be coming down, and replaced with a 32-story building of mixed residential and commercial use. Continue reading

Biography slams BPCA’s Bill Thompson, Gayle Horwitz, and Anne Fenton
September 6, 2013- The political paper City&State published an 11-page biography on mayoral candidate Bill Thompson. It details how he hired cronies from his City Comptroller days to help him run the Battery Park City Authority. It lists Anne Fenton, Gayle Horwitz, and Phyllis Taylor. Excerpts below:

The election results were good for Battery Park City
September 12, 2013- Mayor: Bill de Blasio won with 40% of the vote, apparently avoiding a runoff election. However, senior members of the Democrat party, including former president bill Clinton, are calling for Bill Thompson to step aside. BPC falls into disrepair
Update September 11, 2013- The South Cove repairs are completed and the stumps are finally removed.
Update July 28, 2013- After the BPCA addressed our concerns, below, there has been no progress on any of the items we detailed as stalled projects.

It is now 8 months since Hurricane Sandy flooded small portions of Battery Park City (the nearby regions of Manhattan were devastated), and all of the major structural damages to the ballfields, Pier A, and Asphalt Green were repaired months ago. Yet quietly, numerous projects have fallen into disrepair all throughout Battery Park City. No mention of them has been made over that last several monthly meetings of the BPCA board.

Laughable PR stunt by BPCA PR team
September 11, 2013- In response to BatteryPark.TV’s and resident’s complaints about the deterioration of the parks in the wake of park staff firings, the BPCA’s Dynamic Duo of Misinformation have instructed park staff to do the humiliating job of painting lamp posts. Outrage over high salaries of 9/11 Memorial staff amidst budget overruns
Update April 21. 2013- CBS’ 60 Minutes featured a first look at the 9/11 Museum (not the Memorial above ground), but made no reference at all to the disgrace that has taken place on hallowed ground. CBS interviewed Alice Greenwald and President Joe Daniels. Both are earning nearly $400,000 in salary as the entire project is massively over budget. Instead of criminal investigation, they received a puff piece on 60 minutes. For the full story, see below….

The disgrace over the hallowed ground of Ground Zero continues. The New York Times is reporting that the City and State are squabbling over who will pay for cost overruns of the 9/11 Memorial, creating a stalled project with no opening in sight.
January 30, 2012
Construction of the September 11th Memorial has screeched to a halt as the numerous different state, federal, and city bureaucracies fight over the tab of the cost overruns. After rushing out a partially constructed memorial to avoid embarrassment on the tenth anniversary, not much progress has been made since.
