The all-powerful State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s solution to the extremely unsafe road in front of PS 276 was to have the DOT place a stop sign. Local resident and mother of a student at the school, Tammy Meltzer, and the rest of the Silver cronies on the CB1, cheered the move stating that a stop sign was actually preferred over a full traffic light. Sheldon Silver unable to get a traffic light for PS 276

West-Thames-accident-and-kidsFebruary 14, 2014- A blast email from Speaker Sheldon Silver’s office proudly states that his office was able to have the City DOT install a stop sign in front of PS 276, in the wake of the crossing guard being hit by a vehicle there recently. However, a full traffic light is needed, and the BPCA can afford it.

When Goldman Sachs wanted a traffic light on North End and Murray in 2012, the BPCA promptly paid for one. For unknown reasons, children in danger do not command the same urgency. Continue reading →
