Letter: New Gateway plaza resident frustrated with bills

DSC04538March 21, 2013 By Dr. Kim Lurie

I am a recent tenant at Gateway, displaced from Long Beach due to Hurricane Sandy.  After losing my nearly all of my possessions, being evacuated, and nearly 4 months in a hotel, I choose to take up residence at 355 South End Avenue.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 22, 2013, I will be here 5 weeks. To say that this experience is frustrating is putting in mildly. Continue reading

Conflicts of interest exposed between CB1 Tribeca and NID tax groups

COI pageMarch 13, 2013 By Steven E. Greer, MD

The controversial Neighborhood Improvement District (NID) tax being pushed upon residents who live along the West Side Highway, from the Battery Park City border all the way north to 59th street, was front and center at the Tribeca CB1 board meeting tonight. The opposition to the tax has grown many fold since the joint session of the CB1 last month, and is more organized. They brought very sophisticated handouts that would rival a Goldman Sachs investment banking pitchbook.

One page caught our attention. Continue reading

The honeymoon is over: We revisit the new restaurants

October 6, 2012 By Steven E. Greer

It has been almost a year since the new restaurants opened in the Goldman Sachs alley and perimeter of the Conrad Hotel. They have all had time to fix early miscues and change the staff. Also, the once-deprived and starved citizens of Battery Park are a bit more jaded now.

So, how do the establishments stack up 10-months after opening? Continue reading

BudgetMarch 13, 2013 By Steven E. Greer

The BPCA recently refused to properly answer a Freedom of Information request for the full proposed 2013 budget that was discussed in January. All that was delivered was the same one-page spreadsheet that is on the BPCA website. In fact, all of the past years of budgets are also not properly displayed for the public. Only available are the one-page spreadsheets.

What is the BPCA hiding? Continue reading
